Rose and Thistle Bar

The only English sports pub in the area

Time Out Says

Rose and Thistle Bar is the only sports bar right near the Corniche. The central location of the hotel makes it very convenient to head over and catch any match you want. We head here after work, not for any match in particular, although a very popular cricket match is being screened and the bar is quite crowded with enthusiasts.

Quintessentially an English pub, Rose and Thistle Bar has a big projector screen for the matches along with several large TV screens all around. A pool table is around the corner and there’s a small area dedicated to darts lovers. There is something very casual about this place, something that entails dressing up as comfortable as you’d like and we’re all for that.

There is a small dance floor attached to a stage where live bands play regularly. Weekends are usually for commercial hits but you can find classic rock bands on occasion, too.

We pick the area with tall, wooden bar stools and order a few hops from the varied beverage menu. All drinks come with a bowl of complimentary popcorn. The bar does have happy hours but only on bottled hops which start at QR27 while the regular is priced at QR47. The staff aren’t very friendly, but the service is super-quick despite the crowds.

Easily, a decent place to come to if you’re in the area, looking to kill some time or watch a match with friends.
