Contrary to popular belief, not all of Doha’s hippest night spots are concentrated in West Bay. The city, and the Downtown area in particular, is dotted with bars and clubs. And, in case it’s one of those weekends where you just don’t want to drive all the way up to skyscraper zone, all you need are these pages for reference. Here are the 10 of the city’s top nightlife spots.

1 Club Ozone
This relatively new club has a funky bar area and some of the best happy hours in town. You can get your favourite draught for as low as QR18. We'd recommend eating before you head down, though.
Membership required (QR50 inclusive of one beverage). Open Sat-Wed 5pm-2am; Thu-Fri 2pm-2am. Happy hours daily 5pm-9pm. The Avenue Hotel, Al Sadd (7072 5888).

2 Jazz Club
A night out doesn’t necessarily have to mean loud, brash music that makes you want to pull your hair out, or just give you a massive headache. Some of Doha’s best musical talents play live here at the Jazz Club and not only is the ambience elegant and cosy, with suede couches around the corners and leather seats in the middle, they have an interesting menu with pretty top food. Tuesdays are ladies’ nights here with four complimentary beverages and a special priced snack menu from 8pm till midnight. Advance reservations are recommended.
Free entry, no membership required. Open Sun-Fri 5pm-2am. Happy hours Sun-Fri 5pm-8pm (buy one, get one free on beverages and 30 percent off on appetisers). Oryx Rotana, Umm Ghuwailina (4402 3333).

3 Misturado
Although this spot can get outrageously crowded on weekends, we’ve been known to frequent this place for years now. It’s more of a lounge and hence rather laidback. There’s excellent Brazilian restaurant Rodizio right next door, in case you plan dinner before drinks. And if you don’t, we insist you order the chicken wings here. Absolutely delicious.
Free entry, no membership required. Open daily 12.30pm-2am. Happy hours 12.30pm-7pm. Crowne Plaza Doha – The Business Park, Najma (4408 7788).

4 Mix Bar
If you’re looking for a great night out and a chance to be slap-bang in the middle of all the buzz, look no further. Here’s the whole package from convenient happy hours and excellent food (we can’t get enough of the ramen burger) to slick décor and groovy tunes, including live music on some days.
Free entry, no membership required. Open daily 5pm-2am. Happy hours 5pm-8pm. The Westin Doha Hotel & Spa, Fereej Bin Mahmoud (4492 1657).

5 Orion
Also located in the Radisson Blu, this bar has a completely different feel. It’s much more crowded (no, seriously, you might need armour to keep people from sticking to you) and a whole lot livelier. You’ll be lucky if you find a table even. They have a range of beverages to suit all wallets, so you don’t even have to break the bank to have a fun night out.
Free entry, no membership required. Open daily 6pm-1.30pm. Happy hours daily 6pm-8pm. Radisson Blu Hotel, Ramada Signal (4428 1428).

6 Pearl Lounge Club
Famous for its Desi Nights (read: loud Bollywood music), Pearl Lounge is definitely an option if you want to shake a
leg (or get stepped on at some point during the night). Crowds aside, the music is good here on most days. And if you’re looking at pre-dinner drinks, there are lots of options inside the hotel such as Mexican restaurant Salsa and JW’s Steakhouse.
Membership required (QR50). Open Mon-Sat 5pm-2.30am; Sun 5pm-midnight. Happy hours daily 5pm-8pm, 9pm-11pm. Doha Marriott Hotel, Ras Abu Aboud (4429 8290).

7 Pure
This was always a great rooftop venue and then came summer. As we worried how we’d spend another weekend at our usual spot in this heat, the DoubleTree management simply concealed the entire area and threw in some air-conditioning (pretty normal if you’ve lived in the region long enough). All’s well that ends well.
Free entry, no membership required. Open daily noon-2am. Happy hours daily 6pm-8pm. DoubleTree by Hilton, Al Salata (4034 3333).

8 Shehrazad
This popular sports bar has loads of screens and great vibes. If you come here on Fridays, you can sample the popular barbecue set menu for just QR80 (available during certain months only) at the outdoor terrace. So you know where to catch the next game, and some tasty grills.
Free entry, no membership required. Open daily 5pm- 1.30am. Happy hours daily 5pm-9pm. Radisson Blu Hotel, Ramada Signal (4428 1428).

9 Sky View
La Cigale’s Sky View is one of the most popular spots in the city. From Arabic nights to salsa nights, there’s pretty much something for everyone. And the views are fantastic, obviously. Look for for a few big names who perform here regularly.
Free entry, no membership required (reservations required on weekends). Open daily 6pm-2am. La Cigale Hotel (4428 8888).

10 Stock Burger Co
The vibrant sports bar offers speciality burgers, inventive flatbreads, creative salads, delicious appetisers and a selection of hops. And when they say sports bar, they mean business. Besides 25 screens in the main area, it has a dedicated room with a giant TV and comfy sports car-style seats for football fans. Besides incredible burgers, there are some delectable desserts, too.
Free entry, no membership required. Open daily noon-2am. Holiday Inn Doha – The Business Park, Najma (4031 3333).
