When it comes to themed bars, there’s a fine line between being a bit of fun and being really, really naff. But thankfully, Broadway Brasserie rubber legs its way along it, landing firmly on the side of fun.
Step inside and you’ll quickly work out that this spot pays tribute to Nashville, the famed Music City in the US of A, with paraphernalia on the walls including posters, album covers and records from artists who have ties to the American south like Dolly Parton and Elvis Presley. To take it up a notch, the walls of the bar feature projections of the outside of bars found along Broadway, a street at the heart of the Music Row, as well as neon signs to add to those honky-tonk vibes.
The theme doesn’t end there, either, with cutesy names on dishes like Elvis’ favourite (a banana cheesecake with peanut butter ice cream) and the rule the rooster (a chicken burger). While verging on the border of twee, we do appreciate the creative spins on some southern classics, with must-try dishes including the oh burrata, where art thou, which features cheese encased in a tomato, the short ribs, and the mac and cheese. Burger fans, you cannot miss the Broadger, which has a savoury doughnut slathered in sticky barbecue sauce instead of a regular bun. It’s well worth getting messy for.
Drinks follow the same trail of thought, with mixed options named for Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Cash and more, as well as hops, grape and short drinks. Work your way through Broadway Brasserie’s menu for less by heading here during Nashville hour, which runs from 11pm until 1am Monday through Friday, and all-day on Sundays and Saturdays, with house beverages from QR30. We did say this spot was fun, and a live band is there to keep the place lively.
