Hudson Tavern

A lively underground-style bar

By the time you’ve made your way to Hudson Tavern, through the opulent lobby of the Mondrian Doha, all black and white patterns and filled with Marcel Wanders’ design, you’d be forgiven for thinking you’d stepped into a completely different world.

That’s exactly what the cool, underground-style bar wants you to feel. Its rustic yet modern ambience, with exposed brick walls and ambient lighting, oozes an unpretentious charm.

The background music is at audible-conversation levels, so first impressions on this visit are promising. You can sit near the bar on one of the dining tables or on a cosy couch. Our choice is obvious – one cosy couch please.

The staff are smiling and friendly, and the spot reminds us of a friendly neighbourhood eatery. The drinks menu is large and you can find everything from hops and mixed beverages to grape and sparkling.

The mixed beverages are pretty standard, but what does stand out is the option of ordering shakes to go with the bar’s pretty spectacular burgers.

The food menu here is incredible – succulent burgers, top notch wings, delightful tempura and even a classic fish and chips. It doesn’t even skimp out on the portions – everything is served in American-style generous sizes.

When it comes to sport, there are plenty of screens around making Hudson a great option to catch a match with a big group of like-minded sport enthusiasts.

The happy hours here are mostly on grape, hops and other house beverages from 3pm-7pm Sunday to Thursday. The prices range from QR33-40. On Fridays, it’s from 4pm-7pm and 12.30pm-7pm on Saturdays. Need more reasons to go? We thought not.
