Doha's best pubs: Where to grab a casual pint in Qatar

There’s something special about pubs that you just don’t get at fancier drinking establishments like lounges and bars.

Greasy food, reasonably-priced drinks and plenty of sports is an unbeatable combination, and we love friendly bar staff who know what we want to order before we even sit down.

Doha has some pretty fantastic pubs, and you’ll feel right at home at any one of them.

To help you out, we’ve narrowed down our list to seven top pubs you need to check out.

1 Belgian Café

best pubs in Doha
This pub at the InterContinental Doha has long been a favourite among expats, particularly at the weekends. It serves up amazing Belgian-style fries - no, they’re not the same as French fries - and mussels, although the real draw is the hops selection. Belgian Cafe isn’t exactly your typical pub though, with an amazing outdoor area offering up views over the Arabian Gulf. Come for the hops, stay for the spectacular views.
Daily 12.30pm-midnight. InterContinental Doha, West Bay (4484 4919).

2 Boston’s

Pubs are all about food you can eat with your hands, like burgers, wings or nachos – basically everything that’s bad for you. Boston’s, an American-style gastropub, has all of that and more, and a great hops offering to boot. If you get extra peckish, you can even order sausages by the metre. You’ll find us in here with a hops bucket and the truffle mac and cheese.
Daily 12.30pm-11pm. City Centre Rotana Doha, West Bay (4445 8888).

3 Hudson Tavern

Although the label tavern might evoke images of a rustic rundown bar, the Hudson Tavern is far more modern than its moniker would suggest. The stylish bar has everything you could want, from a great happy hour – draught hops cost QR38 before 7pm – to typical pub fare including fish and chips, buffalo wings and hot dogs.
Daily 12.30pm-11pm. Mondrian Doha, West Bay Lagoon (4045 5999).

4 Irish Harp

best pubs in Doha
No roundup would be complete without an Irish pub, and the Irish Harp is one of Doha’s best. Head here for classics like bangers and mash, Irish lamb stew and shepherd’s pie, and wash it all down with a pint of hops. If you’re really hungry, you can also take on the 2022 challenge, which sees competitors try and wolf down 22 inches of steak sandwich in 20 minutes. If you manage it, you’ll get it on the house. The pub also has 22 TV screens, so it’s a great spot for watching the footie.
Daily 5pm-2am. Sheraton Grand Doha Resort & Convention Hotel (4485 3000).

5 Mulberry Tavern

best pubs in Doha
High on the list of our priorities when searching for a new haunt is its food options, particularly when it comes to roast dinners. Thankfully, Mulberry Tavern serves up a traditional roast at brunch every weekend, and even has a vegetarian option for the plant-based among us. Plus, there’s a happy hour from Sunday to Thursday 3pm until 8pm where hops start at QR35 - what more could you possibly need?
Sun-Thu 3pm-midnight; Fri-Sat 12.30pm-1am. Hilton Doha The Pearl Residences, Abraj Quartier (4492 4630).

6 Shamrock Tavern

There’s nothing more quintessentially British than a roast dinner, and you can get just that for a wallet-friendly QR75 every Sunday at Shamrock Tavern. The pub plays all the major football games on its screens, and even has a darts league if that’s more your style. Plus, you can get 30 percent off drinks between noon and 8pm from Sunday to Thursday. Not bad.
Daily noon-midnight. Magnum Hotel & Suites, West Bay (3366 1162).

7 The Irish Pub

The unoriginally-named Irish Pub is another great option for those on the hunt for a casual drink in Doha, particularly if you plan on whiling away an afternoon thanks to the daily buy one, get one free offer on certain hops between noon and 4.30pm. There’s plenty of typical pub food like pizza, burgers and mozzarella sticks, too.
Daily 12.30pm-2am. Best Western Plus Doha, Al Salata (7780 2211).
