Alfresco spots to have a few drinks

Outdoor bars to check out in Doha

We’ve got loads of things we love to do in the fantastic Doha winters, but topping that list is hitting a few outdoor bars every now and then (more often than that, actually). There are plenty of new spots opening in the city and it’s hard to pick our favourites, but these five alfresco bars are absolute must-tries.

Recently joining the city’s vibrant nightlife scene is this rooftop bar at the plush Mandarin Oriental, Doha. It’s not common to find a bar where you can socialise or hide out.Hang out in the open areas with your favourite drinks featuring lots of fresh ingredients or find a peaceful corner to cosy up in and tuck into some delightful sushi, sashimi or ceviche.

Belgian Café
This bar only gets more popular every winter. The terrace is a lot bigger now, and while the seating isn’t the most comfortable, this is one of the most social spots you can be at on a chilly Doha evening. There’s live music at times and you’ll most likely run into a few ex-colleagues, but don’t worry, Belgian Café is so lively and vibrant that you’ll be so busy having fun and it won’t matter who you run into.

Infinity Lounge
This sky-high addition to alfresco venues in Doha is quite the stunner. The views are unbeatable, making it perfect for sundowners and a few tasty bites from all around the world. It’s laidback, fun and exactly where you want to spend a casual but fun evening in cooler climes.

The Secret Garden

Let’s be honest, there’s absolutely nothing secret about this garden anymore. In fact, it’s one of Doha’s worst kept secrets. If you don’t believe us, try hitting the ladies’ nights on Monday evenings. The only reason we’re always ready to brave the crowds here is because of how brilliant the bar bites (hello, truffle pizza) and tasty the drinks are. If in doubt, Secret Garden is your best bet, always.
Illusion, Marsa Malaz Kempinski, The Pearl-Qatar (4035 5757).

This venue isn’t new, but the W Doha team is always adding wonderfully creative and unique touches to the décor outside at the Wet Deck almost every weekend. Go here three Fridays in a row and you’ll feel like you’ve visited a new venue every single time. Expect new acts, new themes and a banging sound system that never disappoints. And deliciously indulgent drinks, of course.
