Ditch your usual mall crawl routes, Mirqab Mall is a recent addition and it’s a top lifestyle destination. Located on one of the most historically famous shopping streets in the city, the mall still retains that same old feel with glass windows and promenade entrances. If you were a regular on this street, you can still continue to walk past the street and window shop.
There’s lots to love about this mall. From some of the world’s finest retail brands and a unique cinema experience to musical fountains and international restaurant chains, you’ll have plenty of exploring to do around here. Just wear your comfy shoes.
Located over three levels, there’s dining, shopping, entertainment and hundreds of parking spaces. But just to make it easier for you, we’ve listed six main reasons to really get excited about Mirqab Mall.
Look up and you’ll see an incredible glass ceiling that floods the premises with sunlight. Walking in this mall is a delight, thanks to the long corridors and interiors that are reminiscent of classical Arabic architecture. There are a few contemporary touches, too, making this entire destination a real treat for your eyes, and your camera. Don’t worry about all that sunlight. An arcade creates shadows so you can still walk under shade along the various retail outlets. It feels like you’re in a luxurious souk with trees inside. Trust us, you’ll want to go and see for yourself how striking the space is.
Eat the mall
Dining options are plentiful and we’re excited about the international franchises that have made it to Mirqab Mall. Thai restaurant Busaba from the UK has its first Qatar branch right here. Café Concerto, also popular in the UK, is one of the first Italian restaurants to open at Mirqab Mall, aside from Margherita Pizzeria Qatar, an Italian concept from Lebanon. The award-winning Lebanese restaurant Abd El Wahab is an absolute must-try as is Sultan Chef, a Turkish steakhouse concept all the way from Kuwait. There’s something for seafood lovers, too – Seafood Hook. Besides these exclusive concepts, you can also find the regulars such as Paul and Casper & Gambini. With these dining options, it looks like your next few weekends eating out are sorted. Even if you’re not into shopping, a trip to sample the food is advisable.
Entertainment for everyone
Mirqab Mall is big on entertainment, especially for families. The kids can start at Funderdrome, a well-established and popular play and arcade area for young children. The mall has also recently seen the opening of two new concepts – JUMP and HANGOUT. No points for guessing what JUMP is about. The 700 sq m indoor space offers visitors a heart-pounding experience with several attractions such as the Trampoline Arena where children can bounce to their hearts’ content, or the foam pits where anyone can practice aerial tricks or simply enjoy the freedom of flying through the air and landing on a soft cushion of foam cubes. We may or may not have been able to get out from the foam cubes. JUMP also has an obstacle course, basketball trampoline, wall climbing and a Velcro wall.
HANGOUT is more popular among the teens. It’s similar to a gaming theme park crossed with an arcade. You can find all the traditional games along with motorsport and aviation simulators. There are plenty of virtual reality and PlayStation games as well. It’s ideal and safe for young adults with a multitude of fun activities and competitions in a relaxed and cool environment.
The mall continually has massive entertainment shows suitable for the entire family. Watch this space for more information.
Mirqab Mall has one of the most majestic and beautiful façades in the city. As soon as you enter, you’re greeted by a beautiful fountain. This unique musical fountain is the first of its kind in any mall in Qatar and starting at 10am every day, you can enjoy breathtaking shows of sights and sounds.
Shopaholics are going to rejoice with all the diversity – there are luxury brands, premium high street names and plenty of affordable options, too. Residents of the surrounding regions such as Fereej Bin Mahmoud, Al Sadd, Al Nasr, Mirqab and Al Mamoura have a Sephora that’s incredibly easy to access. Besides brands such as Mango, Zara, Furla and Pull & Bear, the mall has OVS – one of Italy’s leading apparel brands with more than 800 stores across Italy. Kenzo, Escada, Dior, Giuseppe Zanotti and Alexander McQueen are just some of the other big names you can find in the mall.
It’s not just fashion brands that are on offer. Jewellery stores are plentiful and include some popular ones even such as Damas, Jawaher Al Sharq, Tous, Farah and Folli Follie. Ladies, we know we’ve just made your day.
And once you’re done watching movies, shopping and exploring the mall, you can pass by Carrefour for your last minute groceries. The hypermarket is located by Gate 4, so you can just head there directly if you are not into having a leisurely stroll around the mall.
Flik Cinemas located on the upper floor of the mall is rather well-known among the city’s moviegoers. Considering there are more than 650,000 households within a 15km radius, it’s only natural the cinema is this popular. There are eight screens and we love how comfortable the cinema seats are.
Value added services
There’s an entire host of services, too. Relax with a hair treatment at Salon Fleur De Lis. You have the option to valet park your car for QR30. If you’re squeezed for time, there’s a car wash service that can sort you out while you finish shopping. So not only can you get some retail therapy in, you can take advantage of the conveniences on offer here, too.
