Currents exhibition at Art 29

Visit W Doha’s expansive art space to witness beautiful artworks from female Middle Eastern artists

Currents exhibition at Art 29

A homage to the status quo of the existing art landscape in the region, Currents exhibition showcases how art and cultural discourse catalyses the region’s growth and development. EMERGEAST – the online art gallery that promotes emerging artists from the Middle East – takes over Art 29, a dedicated space inside W Doha Hotel that showcases local, regional and international art work, all this month.

Currents exhibition is an all-female exhibition where artists convene in Doha from all corners of the Middle East for the first time. Eight multidisciplinary artists under EMERGEAST’s umbrella in a group exhibition will be combined highlighting cross-cultural dialogue.

30 paintings in total are on display, as part of the exhibition at Art 29. The mediums used by the featured artists vary from traditional forms to new media, and include silk screens, resin on canvas, digital collages and mixed media on paper. Some of the artists in focus include Ghada Al Muhammedi, Lulu M, Pegah Lari, Rabee Baghshani, Roxana Manoucheri, Shadi Talaei and Perryhan El Ashmawi. Catch one of Qatar’s fastest growing artists, Bouthayna Al Muftah’s highly anticipated new series Yeebhom, at the exhibition. She will also be displaying an installation piece at the group show, for the very first time.

EMERGEAST promotes promising Middle Eastern artists on international levels and also incubates a base of young collectors seeking affordable art from the region.
Free entry. Runs till 20 May, 2017. Open daily 9am-7pm. Art 29, W Doha Hotel & Residences, West Bay (4453 5000).
