In 1954 the Doha Players put on their first ever production: Bird in Hand by John Drinkwater. Since then, the group has grown to encompass members from more than 20 countries, creating an ever-growing community of actors, producers, directors, set builders, costumers, sound and lighting technicians and many more.
In the past, the group has staged fantastic performances of plays including Hot Mikado, Woman in Black and The Complete Works of Shakespeare, but over the past few years they have branched out into even more large-scale and ambitious productions. Last year, the group staged JB Priestly’s An Inspector Calls as well as their biggest show to date, Les Miserables.
They became one of the first adult community theatre groups worldwide to be granted a license to perform Les Miserables, and the production involved over 100 people, including 50 amateur actors and 80 volunteers.
