Get creative with Qatar Museums’ February events

There’s plenty of fun things to do this month

A new month can only mean one thing – even more creative and fun things to do with Qatar Museums.

This month’s lineup of events is as amazing as ever, ranging from Ottoman design classes at the Museum of Islamic Art to virtual field trips at the National Museum of Qatar.

First up on Wednesday February 3 is sculpting 101. The workshop will see kids aged three to five produce clay sculptures and a still-life painting inspired by the Museum of Islamic Art’s vase and bottle collection, and will be held from 4pm until 5pm.

Classes will continue throughout the month at the same time and day, with lessons on February 10, 17, and 24.

Then on Wednesday February 17, the MIA will be hosting a course for kids aged eight to 11 to learn about Ottoman islimi design, and will eventually complete an illumination painting.

Next up on Saturday February 20, eight lucky families will get to learn about photograms, and develop one yourselves at the MIA.

If you’ve not yet checked out A Falcon’s Eye: Tribute to Sheikh Saoud Al Thani, there will be a curator-led tour on Tuesday February 23.

You can find the full list of events at the Museum of Islamic Art, and book your slot, by clicking here.

Also this month, the Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art will be hosting art lessons with Ismael Azzam every Tuesday and Wednesday from 4pm until 7pm. It’s completely free, and you can sign up by clicking here

And if you’ve got little ones, Mathaf will also be hosting its monthly story time session on Saturday February 20, and you can sign up here.

Finally, one for the teachers – the National Museum of Qatar is now hosting virtual field trips for students from Sunday to Wednesday. You’ll be able to explore themes such as the formation of Qatar or modern history from the safety of the classroom.

Tours are given in Arabic, English, French, Italian, Chinese, Spanish, Turkish and German, and you can email schoolsnmoq@qm.org.qa to book.

Basically, February is packed to the brim with cool things to do.
