The first thing that usually comes to our mind when we go Chinese is roasted Peking duck. What we love about Ruby Wu’s is that they serve it as an option in the appetiser menu, two ways, making it pocket-friendly. Needless to say, we order it along with crispy prawns and chicken dim sum.

Ruby Wu’s is almost an underrated gem, but if you want authentic Chinese food, it’s one of the few places in Doha that serves up some exceptional morsels. Case in point: when we bite into the prawns. They’re perfectly crispy on the outside and decadently soft on the inside – second to none. The dim sums are forgettable but the roasted Peking duck is as authentic as it gets. Served with mini wraps and plum sauce, the dish is moderately sweet. Great reason to go spicy for mains.

Decorated in scarlets and blacks, the restaurant is right next to Bombay Balti, which is a good and bad thing. There’s a sort of food-court vibe in here but, luckily, the food is so good that we’re just focused on our plates.

We go simple with the mains. The Hong Kong style egg noodles are a bit too oily to have at dinner time, but boast a great mixture of flavours. It’s the perfect accompaniment with the spicy Szechuan beef gravy. There’s some real heat in here – have the water ready, and maybe even some sugar. A little lime squeeze might be a smart move, too.

The bottom line
A top pick for a long-overdue Chinese fix.

A perfect experience.
The food come in big portiones, tasty, an authentic chinese expeience.
Service better than in a 5 star hotel, from wich I have personally encountered until now.
As prices, our bill was 566 QR ( for four people ):
- 4 Shrimp rolls = 140 QR
- 1 Beef Dumping = 45 QR
- 1 Hong Kong Noodle = 55 QR
- 1 Sweet and Sour Chicken = 65 QR
- 2 Fujlan Rice = 130 QR
- 2 Pineapple Juice = 30 QR
- 2 Jack Daniels = 64 QR
- 2 Coca Cola = 12 QR
- 1 Aqua Panna Large = 25 QR
TOTAL = 566 QR
But, as I said before, the service is EXCELLENT !
