A big reason we love Market is the buzz. Walk in here any time of the day and you will always find a good bunch of cheerful people in this casual but classy restaurant.

Whether at the bar or a table, you will feel the liveliness of our Best European restaurant.

On our latest visit we’ve decided to go with our server’s recommendations – we trust the staff and kitchen, so we know we’ll not be disappointed.

Starters are crispy prawns and seared foie gras. Of the two, the foie gras is the standout. Placed on toasted brioche with a spiced pear on the side, it’s almost too good to eat. The accompanying sweet onion jam is the perfect addition. The mild honey-mustard flavour of the prawns allows their inherent sweetness to shine.

Our main, the parmesan-crusted chicken with basil-lemon sauce is another winner. The crust is perfectly crispy and the cheese runs through every bite. It’s a dish that tastes like it has come straight out of a home kitchen.

The service from all the staff is excellent and despite the busy dining room, everyone is composed. No-one misses a beat.

We’re eating on a week day, but the place is packed and it feels like a weekend. Time after time, Market hits the mark.

The bottom line
Sophisticated food done well and without pretension.
