If your idea of a relaxing meal involves sitting by the water and hearing the gentle hum of waves rolling onto the shore, there’s little contest to La Veranda.

The outdoor seating is the epitome of seaside dining, offering prime views across the Corniche into old town Doha. But after years of hawking this competitive advantage in real estate, La Veranda seems more determined than ever to prove it is also a foodie destination.

The new menu blends standard Italian classics from carpaccio to caprese with more modern favourites; roasted octopus with burrata and squid ink taglioni. Meanwhile, a pizza oven churns out beautifully thin crusts topped with authentic ingredients. There’s no
pineapple or tandoori chicken. Here it’s more like bresaola and porcini mushrooms.

Over the past year, the introduction of a business lunch and weekend brunch has drawn in a new wave of clientele.

During weekdays, the antipasti buffet features cheeses, seafood salads, cold cuts and sandwiches for a humble feast. With a main, dessert, water and coffee or tea – all for under QR100 – you have an unbeatable deal.

Despite a very recent renovation to spruce the interiors, most tables inside still cannot shake off that ‘80s tropical resort feel. Indeed, La Veranda is housed in the hotel’s recreation area, adding to a clubhouse vibe.

But nab a table al fresco, sit back, and soak in the view.

The bottom line The authentic Italian food and sea views are just too good to miss.

I agree with reviewer above! The timeoutdoha reviewer has never been to the places where food dominates and you dont care about the decor.

Great service, food, decent wine list is ok even for Doha.

Time to retry this restaurant Timeoutdoha!

I am not sure where this review ate but I found the food authentic, especially the pastas with amazing views of the sea.

Of course, it is well hidden at the Sheraton Health club which gives it a casual atmosphere so the reviewer is correct, they could get rid of the formality but it is always busy when I go!

Finally a restaurant in Doha where the chef is really from Italy!
