The headache-inducing design on the carpet at Al Hubara, the Sheraton’s buffet outlet, along with the tan wood-effect panels and the piped muzak are reminders of how far the majority of the restaurant world has moved on in the last 30-odd years. The sight of the buffet tables heaving with food may temporarily instill a glimmer of hope, but that is soon dashed by a closer examination of the dreary international fare on offer. Try the hotel’s Al Shaheen restaurant instead (see below): the view alone makes it a more worthwhile place to dine.
