Classy Thai restaurant with open kitchens and excellent food Reviews

Already fans of Thai food, Time Out Doha was eagerly anticipating the opening of the Grand Hyatt’s signature restaurant, and it was worth every hungry minute. The open-plan restaurant stretches across what seems to be half the floor of one level, with the hotel lobby’s grand Swarovski crystal chandeliers sparkling at eye level. There are three open kitchens where small armies of black-hatted chefs mix up Thai dishes, served mezze style – making this spot a perfect choice to share a meal with friends. There’s plenty of seating, private dining rooms and sheer curtains creating intimate, private dining nooks and the atmosphere is buzzing with fabulous music.

The staff, who seem to glide rather than walk, continually stop past your table to offer more lemongrass tea or steaming rice held in funky bamboo baskets. We suggest starting with one of Isaan’s Thai-inspired cocktails – like the lychee-infused signature Isaan martini. Then choose a bunch of dishes (around three to four should be enough per person). Every dish we tried was top notch – especially the fragrant, succulent grouper fish in banana leaf. Your food is accompanied by four tiny dipping bowls of sauce varying in spiciness. They are all pretty fiery, but we worked out a nice little routine: spicy food; Isaan martini; spicy food; and so on. Two very spicy thumbs up.
