If the weather permits, La Veranda, Sheraton Grand Doha Resort’s Italian diner, has an exquisite terrace with stunning views. And, with the weather slowly turning back down to a perfectly comfortable level, we’re excited at the thought of spending many an hour here.
La Veranda’s outdoor area is easily one of Doha’s top seaside dining options and with the introduction of the new menu, it’s up there as a foodie destination, too.

The new menu blends Italian classics like caprese and homemade gnocchi with some modern favourites such as salmon Catalana and Milanese veal chops. There’s a Sicilian-style spaghetti aglio e olio which packs in some real heat (you’ve been warned), a tasty seafood salad and casarecce with beef bacon and pecorino cheese among other delicious Italian additions.

But, while we’re dining by the seaside and admiring the afternoon views, we realise that one dish is unbeatable – the calzone. A very generous portion of super-soft, perfectly baked dough loaded with mushroom, mozzarella and turkey ham is beautifully churned out of the pizza oven and served piping hot to our table. It’s deliciously cheesy and without doubt is the shining star on a stellar menu.

So, grab a table by the sea and make sure our dish of the month is on top of your list this October. You won’t regret it, nor will you regret La Veranda’s other authentic Italian specialties, too.
