We might just have found the most reasonably priced meat-lovers’ Friday feast, also perfect for kids.

The Carvery Brunch at Radisson Blu Hotel Doha takes place at the Hyde Park Coffee Shop. It’s not the most ideal location for a brunch, but the eatery does a decent job of making the spot lively.

The brunch does justice to its name, too, with the carving station of succulent meats including everything from turkey and rib-eye steaks to perfectly spiced stuffed veal loin and beef Wellington. And all come with a fine assortment of sauces. We also highly recommend the wonderfully grilled salmon.

To kick off, though, we head straight for the mezze. Each dish is spot on as far as flavours go, and the crispy fatayer served on a plate of sweet chilli sauce is incredible, with a much-needed kick.

There’s a long counter of hot accompaniments that go with the carving station, such as Dauphinoise potatoes and grilled veggies. You’ll also find a spinach-stuffed chicken dish, which is absolutely delicious, and lamb chops that are really tender and juicy. Just skip the chutney that comes alongside. All the other brunch regulars are present – a green salad section, freshly baked breads stand and a cheese counter, all of which are kept abundantly stocked through the afternoon.

Next we move onto the fresh tempura, right next to the made-to-order pasta station. These comprise battered veggies, fish or prawn, but unfortunately, these fall flat – they’re the least appetising part of the buffet.

The ambience at Carvery Brunch is extremely relaxed and laid-back and the live band softly singing old tunes lift this otherwise straightforward brunch experience.

Considering the incredibly affordable price, this one is truly perfect for families – not to mention the super-friendly dinosaur that we just can’t get over (we get at least three selfies with him) and an exciting surprise that we’ll reveal later. Stay with us…

There’s a crafts area for children, a PlayStation zone and a massive toy car racing track to keep the sprogs busy, too. And staff hand out small toys as presents for the little ones, which makes for a great distraction for adults wanting some quiet time for a bit conversation.
But now onto of the desserts.

The section isn’t elaborate, but it has enough variety to please kids and sugar-deprived adults alike. The cheesecake ice cream is worthy of mention and is by far the winner of this section of the brunch.

Aside from the food, we’re also really happy about the service – staff are swift, helpful and knowledgeable and overall excellent throughout.

Now for that big reveal. You also get a free access to the pool, any time from 7am, included in the price.

So you can literally make this a full day of fun, complete with pool time, with your entire family. Without needing to remortgage the house.

You really can’t say fairer than that…
QR175 (soft drinks), QR245 (selected beverages). Fri noon-4pm. Radisson Blu Hotel Doha, Ramada Signal (4428 1555).

The bottom line
Brunch for the whole family that won’t break the bank.
