Dish of the Month: Moreish morsels

If you’re a regular reader of Time Out Doha, you’ll be no stranger to luxurious, contemporary Japanese restaurant, Nozomi. The worthy winner of our Best Japanese and Restaurant of the Year awards, 2017, is still putting together some seriously good dishes and that’s why we’re not going to stop going back any time soon.

We’re huge fans of any dish that highlights the clean minimalism of Japanese cuisine, and we love that Nozomi’s menu deftly combines that, along with dishes that include touches of European flavours.

The restaurant has an extensive menu, and our only problem with it is that it’s really hard to choose what we like best (everything is so good). So let’s start with this month’s highlighted dish.

The grilled Kobe beef sliders served with yuzukoshu mayonnaise, caramelised onions and home-made brioche are not what you’d expect when you think of sliders. But this version is better by a long shot.

Every bite is a sheer joy – the beef is marinated beautifully, the mayonnaise adds a load of flavour, the soft brioche gives some bite and the caramelised onions add a touch of sweetness.

If this dish didn’t look so sophisticated and if we weren’t sitting in a restaurant as plush as Nozomi, we’d be unabashedly demolishing unlimited quantities of these sliders as if they were chips.

All we ask when digging in to these incredibly moreish morsels is to think of us. And thank us (in your heads).
