With traditional Indian vibes straight out of the old havelis (traditional mansions) of Udaipur, Taj Rasoi has an olde- worlde desi charm that you just can’t miss. Beautifully carved woodworks surround a small yet cosy dining space. Over the years, it has become one of those places that has become a go-to spot for families with something to celebrate.

Choosing to eat here also comes with a guarantee that you’ll be served the very best creamy curries, meaty biryanis, buttery soft breads and, what India is renowned for over everything else, excellent hospitality. For all of those reasons, Taj Rasoi landed the Best Indian accolade at this month’s Time Out Doha Restaurant Awards.
One dish that is near the top of everyone’s wishlist in an Indian restaurant is the butter chicken. And in our eyes, if a restaurant doesn’t get its butter chicken right, you can’t really trust it to do anything else right either. It’s a proven method and one we’ve unfortunately found out to be true too many times. But not here. Taj Rasoi really hammers home the Punjabi dining experience with its oh-so-calorific but absolutely delicious murgh makhani.

The meat in this best-seller is marinated overnight in spices, then roasted and cooked in tomato purée, cream and, of course, copious amounts of butter. One bite into this dish, and you’ll quickly travel from Doha to the foodie streets of New Delhi. Make sure you order a piping hot, crisp garlic naan to go with it. Just saying.
