Stretching across almost the entire rooftop of Marsa Malaz Kempinski, new nightlife venue Illusion has finally opened its doors.

The olde-worlde-meets-new interiors have been designed by Creative Clinic, the team behind some of Dubai’s biggest venues (Blue Marlin Ibiza, The Act and Catch NYC), and the food and beverage team have some pretty impressive credentials, too.

Bar manager Joao Serio has been a nominee and finalist of numerous mixologist awards, while executive chef Bobby Griffin has worked with some of the biggest restaurants in Las Vegas, Los Angeles and New York, including Ça Va and Beso.

Picturesque garden terrace, cosy lounge and huge super-club combined, Illusion is basically every kind of night out, rolled into one.

First up, The Garden, featuring a lush terrace, chilled music, light bites (lobster arancini, patatas bravas and the like) and 360° views over The Pearl-Qatar and beyond. Perfect for laid-back sundowners with friends.

Then there’s The Private Lounge. Entry is by invitation only and the exclusive venue is a rugged, leather-seated, oak-wooded den with a cosy, prohibition-era vibe and some rather nouveau beverage options. We’re talking liquid nitrogen carts, vintage beverage fountains and bubbles trolleys, served tableside.

Last, but certainly not least (this might be the bit we’re most excited for), 1933 – The Grand Hall (for when you’re going out, out). This opulent super-club full of bespoke furniture, artwork and pumping music, all sits beneath a gargantuan LED light dome. That’s your next three nights out sorted then, at least.
The Garden Tue-Sun 6pm-2am; The Grand Hall Thu-Fri 8pm-2am (reservations only); The Private Lounge by invitation only. Marsa Malaz Kempinski, The Pearl, Doha, (4035 5758).
