Time Out Towers was all a buzz when we found out Cat Stevens, aka Yusuf Islam, was coming to play his hits. And in the gorgeous park by the Museum of Islamic Art too! We couldn’t think of a better venue for his unique blend of folk and rock and awesomeness. His resume includes tracks like ‘The First Cut is the Deepest’; ‘Father and Son’; ‘Wild World’; ‘If You Want to Sing Out’; ‘Here Comes My Baby’; ‘The Wind’; ‘Cat’s in the the Cradle’ and ‘Peace Train’, all of which have not only existed in music collections for decades but pop up regularly in acclaimed movies. A prominent convert to Islam, he’s also won major awards for his humanitarian work. We can think of no one better to break in the MIA Park, the first in a series of outdoor performances to be held there. Rock on.
Cat Stevens/Yusuf Islam in concert, Museum of Islamic Art Park, Feb 16. Tickets are QR210 or QR750 for VIP tickets which includes a reception and onsite parking, available at the Museum of Islamic Art. Call 4422 4444 or visit www.mia.org.qa.
