As many as 55 new parks could be opened in Doha if ambitious plans by the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning are given the go ahead.

According to local media reports Mohammed Ali Al Khoury, Director of the Public Parks Department has said the organisation is investigating yet more park openings in Doha. With 15 parks opening last year we’re delighted to see more public outdoor spaces are being considered and we’re getting out picnic baskets at the ready.

We’re also intrigued by the suggestion that free Wi-Fi could be offered in all public parks in and around Doha as well. No timeline has been given or projects officially announced lthough we have heard that new facilities at Umm Salal and Al Wakrah are predicted to be the first of the new wave and open in just a few months.

While you’re waiting check out these parks in Doha.
