Party on the beach
Can’t get away for a Caribbean holiday this month? The InterCon attempts the next best thing. For QR275, you’re ushered to your beach front table, plied with cocktails and then beguiled by Caribbean music and entertainment.
Tue 4, InterContinental Beach. Call 4484 4444
Sneak a peek at the Arab Games
Starting this month, get a look at past glories in the lead-up to The Arab Games in December. With a collection of memorabilia dating back to the birth of the games in 1953, including medals, posters and programmes, as well as interviews with athletes and photographs from the events. The exhibit runs from Oct 4-Dec 23 daily from 8am-noon, and 3pm-9pm.
Tue 4, QMA Gallery, Katara, free. www.qma.org.qa
Get down like the Germans
It’s the most wonderful time of the year, if you like leather shorts and pretzels. Oktoberfest returns, with events and tents all over the city, starting this weekend. So practise your German and get ready to dance on tables. But get your tickets fast – they sell out quickly!
Thu 6, various locations
Head to Latin America
Head south of the border at Katara until Oct 15 with a festival celebrating all things Latin, from music and dance to film screenings and food. Every night till the end of the festival showcases something new.

Play Willy Wonka
This would not be the weekend to diet. There’s a chocolate fountain, and ‘all-you-can-eat’ indicates to us that they’d like us to pull up a straw and slurp directly from it (warning: may result in removal by oompah loompah). Adults are QR100, children five-11 QR70. The first sitting is from noon-3pm, the second from 3.30pm-6.30pm.
Fri 7, W Café, W Doha Hotel. Call 4453 5353
