Check out watery art
This month the Museum of Islamic Art offers a workshop focused on water (crucial in a hot desert month). By reflecting on items from the museum’s collection, participants will be inspired to create a 3D piece of art decorated by verses from the Holy Qur’an in which the word ‘water’ is mentioned. Held every Monday and Wednesday from 9am-noon in the Education Centre, booking is required.

American president Barack Obama turns 50 today. Last year he marked the occasion by attending a basketball game. And this year? ‘Lower unemployment and fuel prices,’ he told a magazine in the States. Because nothing is as festive as fiscal responsibility.
