Rise of the Guardians
Why it’s a must see: The animation is truly excellent, without ending up in the Uncanny Valley (there is not Polar Express nightmares lurking with this one). Plus, the voice actors will make you smile, no matter your age!
The Film: This film, directed by Peter Ramsey, basically proves we should never, ever trifle with the Easter Bunny. Or the Tooth Fairy, the Sandman, Jack Frost or Santa. This animated 3D family adventure, based on William Joyce’s popular book series The Guardians of Childhood, reboots classic children’s champions. When Pitch, the Nightmare King, hatches a nefarious plot, Jack Frost brings his ‘warrior guardian’ friends together to stop Pitch from engulfing the world in darkness. Action, adventure and puns ensue. Featuring the voices of Chris Pine, Alec Baldwin, Hugh Jackman, Isla Fisher and Jude Law, it’s a good time for the whole family.
Get your tickets: Head to the Open Air cinema in Katara on November 24. The official closing is at 8pm, but there’s a special kids screening starting at 5pm.
