Why it’s a must see: Riz Ahmed as the protagonist is stunning.

The Film: Director Mira Nair brings Mohsin Hamid’s bestselling novel to the big screen! This thriller has been making waves on the festival circuit. Riz Ahmed plays Changez, a young Pakistani professor. Joined by Live Shreiber, Kate Hudson, Kiefer Sutherland, Martin Donovan and Om Puri, the film explores the cultural divide between East and West since 9/11 by following Changez journey from Wall Street back to his native Pakistan, complete with hidden agendas and twists. It’s all sound tracked by both traditional Pakistani songs and modern pop, Urdu poetry set to music, and a new original song from Peter Gabriel.

Get your ticket: Score an invite- only ticket to the official opening night gala on Nov 17 at Souq Waqif Al Rayyan Theatre, starting at 7pm. There’s a public special screening at Katara Drama Theatre at 8pm for the general public, and again Nov 23 at 4pm
