The Exiles are a guitar based rock and pop band, and the self-described ‘busiest band in Doha’. Started five years ago, the members may have changed but their commitment to rocking out hasn’t: playing their favourite hits from the 80’s, 90’s, 00’s and today.

‘The live music scene in Doha has a solid core of very talented musicians and bands that live and work in Doha. We are supportive of each other and live music,’ says Peter Gibson, guitar wielding frontman with a penchant for kilts. ‘We play gigs in compounds, clubs and for annual events. We play music that works in a environment where people want to dance and sing to song they all know. We play at small birthday parties, local clubs, outdoor events and balls.’

He says the only thing holding the live music scene in Doha back is a lack of venues.

‘The live music scene is limited in Doha due to the number of venues to perform at. You need to work to get gigs but is is rewarding to play to differing audiences and a variety of venues,’ he says. But that’s not why they do it. ‘But what is really important is that we love what we are doing and this can be seen when we play. The fun of playing together live and having the audience enjoy the show.’
