Top weekend getaways
1 Comments 29 August 2012Istanbul, Turkey
4.25hr, culture, dining, party, spending money-Dhs100 per day
Predicted high in September: 31°C
Must do: Straddling Europe and Asia, this Turkish city is an amazing hotchpotch of incongruities, the place where east truly does meet west. There’s a plethora of ancient sights to keep tourists happy: start at the iconic Sultan Ahmed Mosque (‘Blue Mosque’), and don’t miss the imposing Topkapi Palace.
If you pack one thing, it’s… Good shoes – prepare to do lots of walking.
Stay: Sultan Hostel has dorm rooms from QR50 (+90 212 516 9260, www.sultanhostel.com). Rooms at the Grand Hyatt Istanbul (www.istanbul.grand.hyatt.com, +90 212 368 1234) start at QR1,330.
Flights: QR3,571 at www.turkishairlines.com.

you guys really need to do your research. Turkmenistan is one of the hardest places to get to after North Korea. Even harder to have fun as a tourist. There is a curfew on foreigners after 11pm.
Top weekend get away....really?
