Basically, the must-see movie of the year Discuss this article

There are two types of people in this crazy world: people who like Star Wars, and people who are dead inside.

If you’re in the latter camp, move along. Nothing to see here. There’s another miserable Michael Haneke movie coming out soon. That’ll keep you busy.

If you’re in the former then, well, how exciting is all this? A full review will follow next week (it is yet to screen), but before it does, let’s just wallow in sweet anticipation... Carrie Fisher’s last ever turn as the iconic Princess Leia. Mark Hamill’s Luke Skywalker fully back after the tiniest of cameos at the end of The Force Awakens, now in a Yoda-like mentoring role to Daisy Ridley’s Rey. And Rian Johnson, the indie director of the likes of Brick, having apparently stepped up to the big leagues so successfully that Disney has just given him the keys to a whole new Star Wars trilogy too. The Force is strong with this one. Can you feel it?

The bottom line
Basically, the must-see movie of the year.
