Low rent horror scares with a D-list cast Discuss this article
Four friends, who presumably have never seen a horror movie between them, break into an abandoned lunatic asylum and are shocked to discover that all does not go well. Still, they do at least have a half-baked motive: to retrieve a family death certificate that will land one of them a sizeable inheritance…
Besides, if anyone deserves a crack of the big screen whip it’s director Robert Legato, who has dutifully served 25 years as a trusted VFX specialist for some of the biggest movie names out there – Cameron, Scorsese, Zemeckis, and so on – and turned in a few decent Star Trek episodes back in the ’90s.
His feature debut hardly comes loaded with a stellar cast (Hello again, Eliza Dushku, it’s been a while) but does look loaded up on atmosphere and suitably pretty visuals. And Robert Patrick’s in it, as a mad scientist conducting experiments involving both the human brain and spiders. Which always helps.
The bottom line
Low rent horror scares with a D-list cast.
