Chess may not quicken the pulse of movie goers but this film focusses on the real-life child chess prodigy Bobby Fischer. A poor kid from Brooklyn who grew up to be one the world’s best ever players. Played by Tobey Maguire, and set during the Cold War, Bobby is preparing for a legendary chess match against Russian Boris Spassky where there’s more at stake than just a trophy. Directed by Edward Zwick, the film aims to show Fischer’s struggle between genius and madness.
