Written and directed by Ronnie Thompson (Green Street 3: Never Back Down), this thriller is set in the cold bleak British countryside where military chef Mickey Tomlinson (Tom Hughes) signs up to undergo the gruelling selection process for the UK’s Special Air Service. Mickey might seem to be out of his depth as they run through rigorous and unrelenting mental and physical challenges, but the quiet-natured chef has more backbone than he’s given credit for. Noel Clarke, perhaps best known for his role in Kidulthood, plays Carter, the senior soldier in charge of putting the new recruits through their paces. The film’s director is a former prison guard and his films tend to depict gritty, working class heroes and the shadowy side of institutions. Expect similar here.
