Accidental Love

Romantic drama with a troubled production history stars Jessica Biel and Jake Gyllenhaal Discuss this article

Directed by David O. Russell (Silver Linings Playbook, American Hustle), under the pseudonym of Stephen Greene (we get concerned when a director doesn’t want his name on his work), the film’s production was plagued by delays and financing issues, and O. Russell abandoned ship with one day of shooting remaining. So we expect this to be something of a rough cut. The film centres on a small-town waitress (Jessica Biel) who accidentally gets a nail lodged in her head. Unable to have it removed because she doesn’t have insurance, the unfortunate accident changes her behaviour, turning her from naive timid roller skating sweetheart to an aggressive, quirky oddball who seeks the help of young senator to fight her case.
