Oh cynical, cynical Hollywood. Have you no shame? Released right on time for – you guessed it – Valentine’s Day, this latest ensemble cast romcom has been designed solely to monopolise romantic dates on the 14th and provide a consolation activity to single ladies. That an entire film should be based around squeezing optimum cash from a commercial holiday holds little promise for its artistic merit, and like He’s Just Not That Into You before it, the raft of famous faces is likely meant as a distraction from the fact that there’s nothing particularly interesting or surprising within. Directed by the man behind Pretty Woman and featuring (deep breath) Julia Roberts, Bradley Cooper, Ashton Kutcher, Jessica Alba, Patrick Dempsey, Anne Hathaway, Jamie Foxx, Queen Latifah, Jennifer Garner, etc etc, if it doesn’t make a killing then Time Out will eat its millinery collection. But as the movie equivalent of 10 bags of candyfloss, it will in all probability make you sick.
