Christmastime is chaos in the town of Quahog, when Peter donates all the presents to a local charity by accident, the turkey goes up in smoke, and Lois is shot by a tranquilliser dart. Meanwhile, Stewie goes along with the Christmas pageant in the hope of pleasing Santa Claus, to whom he has written asking for the gift of plutonium.

9 A Very Murray Christmas

Bill Murray is back in the holiday spirit in this Netflix special. With rumoured guests including George Clooney, Miley Cyrus and the Rockettes, the quirk factor here will be through the roof, which should please folks who like to keep their holidays as unsentimental as possible.

10 Sherlock: The Abominable Bride

Sherlock Holmes (Benedict Cumberbatch) and Dr. Watson find themselves in 1890s London in this holiday special, an extended cut of which will also get a theatrical release in the UK and the US. There’s still time to book flights…
