Jason Statham in yet another spy hardman thriller Discuss this article

Former Guy Richie protégé and go-to hardman Statham continues his seemingly never-ending arc of identikit thrillers. In Safe he’s directed by relative novice Boaz Yakin (perhaps best known for penning the screenplay to terrible Dirty Dancing prequel Havana Nights), playing a former special agent who re-enters the international theatre of espionage to rescue an abducted Chinese girl. Whether or not Statham will be able to outsmart the perpetually unchallenged audience that laps up this stuff remains to be seen.
