Recycling in the UAE
We all know about glass, plastic and paper, but what about surfboards, toothbrushes and human hair? Laura Chubb discovers how to go green with a difference Discuss this article
Don’t forget
So we know we can recycle glass and plastic, but remember this also extends to:
• Shampoo bottles
Imagine how many pile up each week, and how much better they’d look as nice new tables and chairs.
• Perfume bottles
The more glass we recycle, the better – recycling uses far less energy than creating new glass, which releases carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.
• Mobile phones
Recycling your old handset can contribute to the production of park benches, kitchen kettles and even dental fillings. There are EnviroFone drop boxes all over Dubai (see www.enviroserve.ae/envirofone), or contact recycling group Zonzoo, which will even come to you to collect. See www.zonzoo.me.
