Bliss
The sun, the heat and the dust can all wreak havoc on your skin in Qatar. So, taking their cue from clogged pores and faces desperately in need of some relief from the stresses of modern day Doha, Bliss has introduced their Hydrafacial MD, a pumped up facial for the Doha girl (or guy). It starts with a painless extraction using vacuums to scoop out a summer’s worth of gunk and leave your pores clean, clear and visible smaller. Next, a variety of serums and a gentle peel target fine lines, wrinkles, hyper pigmentation, brown spots, sun damage, acne and basically anything else that could be wrong with your skin. It finishes with a firming collagen mask and a thick layer of moisturizer, the ultimate remedy to the havoc of a Qatar summer on your skin. Hydrafacial MD, 60 minutes for QR2000.

Four Seasons Spa
Enter the land of milk and honey with the Royal Arabian Asrar, their special three-step package with an Arabian twist. It starts with a exfoliating body polish containing date seeds to slough away a summer’s worth of dry, flaky skin, before moving on to a body mask made of milk and honey to hydrate your skin. It all wraps up with a milk bath, complete with floating rose petals, moisturizer, and a traditional mint foot treatment. Plus, as with any treatment at the Four Seasons, you then get to loll around their pool and spa area, which includes a colour therapy room, hydrotherapy pools and plunges, Jacuzzis, steam rooms, ice rooms and more. Royal Arabian Asrar, 105 minutes for QR870.

Eforea: Spa at Hilton
You don’t have to have dates and honey involved to be local. One of the things modern Qatar is best known for is it’s jet setting lifestyles, and it’s emerging role as a travel hub! But all that travel, especially this time of year, can get a body down. Head over to one of the city’s newest spas for the Jet Lag Body Remedy. It starts with organic aromatherapy essences in what they call a ‘Vichy experience’—a shower with an edge. Next, you get an exfoliation with minerals and botanical to help wipe away the residue of travel. Finally, a Swedish massage with healing stones gets your body ready for a warm wrap, complete with scalp massage and foot treatment as you relax and watch the jet lag (hopefully) drift away. Jet Lag Body Remedy, 90 minutes for QR650.

Remède Spa
Qatar’s original claim to fame was its pearls, and you can see them everywhere—even at the spa! Try the Cooling Pearl facial, which includes pure pearl extracts, white lotus stem cells and oxygen infused with amino acids and peptides to brighten and battle aging, while the anti-inflammatory qualities of pearl will also help soothe skin irritation. Or, go in for a full body pearl experience, with their Pearl Escape package. It starts with a skin brushing and scrub, followed by a scalp treatment and mineralizing mask before you’re popped in the Vichy shower and finally finished off with a moisturizing body masque, all infused with pearl. Cooling Pearl Facial or Pearl Escape 90 minutes for QR1,700.

Six Senses Spa
This spa already has the market cornered on traditional, arabesque luxury. It’s modeled after a traditional Arabic village, with battered wood, old stone and twisting corridors as far as the eye can see. We particularly like their Slow Life line of treatments, using sustainable, local and organic ingredients that take local traditions and bring them into the modern spa. They offer several treatments, including their Local Journey, inspired by Qatar, which includes a full body scrub followed by a date and honey wrap and ending with a full body oil massage, or try the Arabian Facial, which involves figs, almond powder and melted honey slathered on the skin. But you can’t get much more Arabic than a hammam, the ancient bath treatment that’s still popular today and guarantees softer, fresher skin: perfect after a dusty summer. They offer two versions, the Traditional, including a scalp ritual using mud infused with rosewood and an exfoliation using homemade soap and a special loofa, or the Moroccan, a warm herbal steam bath where you’re washed with Moroccan soap before lying on a heated marble bed for an exfoliation using a special hammam mitt. Local Journey, 2.4hrs for QR1400, Arabian Facial, 50 minutes for QR500, Traditional Hammam, 50 minutes for QR730, Moroccan Hammam, 50 minutes for QR680.
