Summer is well and truly upon us, and that means that many men are ‘home alone’ as spouses with children in tow have jetted off to cooler climes. So after watching the remainder of the World Cup and playing floodlit golf, what else is there for Doha bachelors to indulge in during these scorching months? It’s about time the lads experienced what all those women rave about, a spa treatment. Many spa therapies are available for men and women, but there is a selection tailored just for the boys. Here’s where to find them:
Located in the Grand Regency Hotel, Angsana Spa offers two treatments specifically for men. ‘Expressions’ is an intensely relaxing experience that commences with a 30-minute body polish followed by a 90-minute massage, and finally a 60-minute facial.
Or alternatively, choose the ‘Ayurvedic Voyage’ – a 120-minute session that includes a 30-minute back massage, a 30-minute Indian head massage, and concludes with a 30-minute Shirodhara (a restorative therapy that involves the gentle pouring of liquid over the forehead). This traditionally Indian treatment is said to reduce muscle tension and balance body systems.

Four Seasons Spa & Wellness Centre
It’s worth getting to your treatment early at the Four Seasons to give yourself time to experience the wonderful hydrotherapy lounge. Featuring a reflexology foot bath, hot and cold plunge pools, hydrotherapy and resistance pools, a Roman-style laconium and a meditative colour therapy room, it’s an experience in itself and is open to both men and women. Next choose from one of two specialist treatments for men. The ‘Men’s Executive’ is a deeply revitalising salt therapy treatment, which is followed by a relaxing Balinese massage. Or maybe treat yourself to a ‘Metro’ and escape with a contouring marine mineral body wrap, thermal indulgence facial and relaxing foot massage.

Ozone Spa at La Cigale Hotel has two treatments specially formulated for men. The ‘Gentlemen’s Escape’ involves a milk bath, a deep tissue massage and a men’s facial. Or if you suffer with your skin, go for a ‘Facial Purifying Treatment’, which consists of a visit once a week for four weeks. Specifically designed for men, this treatment is intended to balance the sebum secretions of combination or oily skin, tighten the pores, prevent blackheads and restore radiance to your complexion.

The Ritz offers a signature collection of treatments designed specifically for the gentleman wishing to indulge – well, if the family’s away, you may not get another chance. The ‘Gentleman’s Package’ is a specialised treatment designed for male skin. It includes a deep hydrating facial, an invigorating body scrub and an anti-stress body massage designed to release localised tension, ease muscular discomfort and revitalise the mind and body. Or experience the ‘Executive De-Stress for Him’ – a treatment that commences with a full body polish applied to remove dead skin cell build-up, followed by a relaxing back massage and a luxurious facial treatment, hopefully leaving your skin and mind refreshed.
Alternatively, book yourself a ‘Gentleman’s Deluxe Facial’, where a multi-phased method of pressure point modelling is used to massage the face, neck, upper back and scalp. A deeply cleansing and anti-bacterial facial is said to purge pores of impurities through deep exfoliation, steaming, extraction work and a deep cleansing mask, leaving the skin clear, bright and refreshed. A blend of pure essential oils is incorporated for a true sensory experience that leaves you feeling relaxed and calm.
If none of those appeal, try the ‘Gentleman’s Body Buff’, easing away dull skin cells with a light body scrub, followed by a traditional deep and invigorating massage using a blend of aromatic oils to encourage circulation and aid digestion. This treatment promises to revive, hydrate and nourish the skin.

Six Senses Spa
An Arabic-styled haven, Six Senses Spa at Sharq Village offers a men’s ‘De-Stress’ massage, which is a total body therapy designed to restore wellness all over. A relaxing massage, combined with deep tissue principals, is the perfect antidote to a busy lifestyle. Or for the sporting gentleman, a ‘Deep Tissue Massage’ may be just what you need, targeting specific areas that require therapeutic results. Highly recommended on a regular basis before and after sporting activities, or for those that prefer a firm, strong massage.

Spa Chakra refers to itself as a medi-spa, providing comprehensive health and wellness care using conventional and holistic methods. Here you will find five treatments just for men.
If you fancy a facial, try the ‘Skin-Saver’, which involves an invigorating exfoliation followed by a facial massage and mask to strengthen and revive the skin. A quick eye treatment is also said to relieve congestion to reveal youth and clarity. Alternatively, book an ‘Energising Facial’, which promises to uncover a fresh complexion through deep cleansing. Using exfoliation, massage and a mask, it aims to give smoother, more radiant skin, with an eye treatment thrown in.
Need to reduce that stomach? Try a ‘Men’s Firming Abdomen’ treatment, where massage techniques are said to help unblock lipids and toxins around the abdomen whilst firming and toning the skin. Feeling stressed? Then the ‘Invigorating Break’ treatment could be just what you need. This treatment is for men on the move and includes an energising body massage, a complete facial exfoliation and an eye contour treatment to reduce visible fatigue, restoring and replenishing skin tone and elasticity.
If you feel like you really deserve a treat, book yourself in for the ‘Ultimate Experience’, where for three peaceful hours you will be cocooned in tranquillity with a revitalising facial, body massage, manicure and pedicure. Emerge in a state of complete serenity and prepare to welcome back the family.
