Paloma
Welcoming and popular bar with lively clientele and live music 1 Reviews
If you’re more of a hops ’n’ nuts person than champagne and strawberries, Paloma is a safe bet. The bar is crammed full of smiling customers – usually a good sign – and you need to raise your voice to be heard over the laughter booming from the sought-after tables. Propping up the bar with a drink allows you a good view of the small stage, where live music kicks off most nights. Not to be pigeonholed, the band playing at the time of writing was a fusion of ‘Colombian, Mexican, Spanish and American music.
But rocky!’ It’s a good description of the decor too. Just the tasteful side of kitsch and largely populated by hotel guests, it also seems to be a favourite haunt for Doha’s younger population, but all the patrons quite happily co-exist, squeezing past each other on the way back to the bar for hops, spirit or glass of grape from the decent selection. The only downside is the weekend ‘couples only’ policy, but with a little planning between friends, this is easily rectified.
