The Old Manor
British theme pub offers cosy comfort above lively glamour Discuss this article
While The Old Manor may be many people’s first port of call for a sandwich and a packet of crisps, it also does a decent pint, and has a choice of quiet seclusion for a nightcap and a chat, or a wall-dominating plasma screen to watch football games. The faux-authentic British theme of the pub isn’t exactly endearing, but you can choose from a decent choice of beers and spirits, before settling into a comfy chair to watch the game. The ‘library’-themed end of the bar is crammed full of bookcases and armchairs for those who don’t enjoy sports and if you’ve had a meal in The Old Manor, or one of the Mercure’s other restaurants, it’s a good spot to sit back and digest, especially seeing as Le Club, the hotel’s alternative nightspot, is hardly the place for a quiet drink.
