Al Koot Fort
This old restored building now houses an ethnographical museum Discuss this article
In Doha's Al Bida district stands the fort, watching over what used to be the outskirts of Qatar. This old restored building now houses an ethnographical museum, and the building itself is a study in old architecture. Each corner has a circular tower, and a square wind tower funnels air into the interior to keep the place comfortably cool. Inside, the walls are covered in paintings by local artists and displays of craft-making techiniques, such as basket weaving and gypsum carving. Be sure to pay close attention to these as carvings are an intricate delight.
