If you’ve watched Beauty and the Beast over a dozen times and wept every single time, we won’t judge you. We’ve cried just as hard and just as many times. But dramatic tears aside, here’s something excellent to look forward to. Starting tomorrow, December 5, through the entire weekend until December 8, Beauty and the Beast will come to life at the Qatar National Convention Centre.

The Doha Players, an amateur dramatic society or community theatre group, is performing this pantomime tale of Beauty and the Beast (written in 1740 by Gabrielle Suzanne de Villeneuve). It has been performed in several different ways around the world and if you have a bunch of kids to entertain (or you’re just a big kid when it comes to Disney), we're positive this pantomime version will be the best thing you’ll see all week.

The theatrical musical comedy featuring a live band will take you through two hours of enchantment, magic, mayhem and loads of fun. You will probably laugh, cry, jump in your seats, sing along and enjoy all at the same time.

Doha Players have staged some incredible productions in the past in all genres. If you’re an enthusiast, you probably remember Les Miserables and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Last year’s epic Snow White performance pulled over 2,000 attendees. And if you still want a feeler, Snow White had a live band and a cast of 60 with slapstick comedy, fun and games, songs, banter and audience participation.

This year, the pantomime will take place for four days in a row in Auditorium 3 at QNCC. On Wednesday December 5 and Thursday December 6, it will start at 7pm. On Friday December 7, two shows will take place at 2.30pm and 7pm. On the final day, Saturday December 8, there will be one show at 2.30pm.

Mark your calendars and get booking. We’ll see you at the front row with a large box of tissues.
