The Nutcracker

One of the most famous ballets of all time will be on stage this month, performed by one of China’s best modern ballet companies, the Suzhou Ballet, and accompanied by Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra. The magical production tells the tale of Clara and the Nutcracker Prince on Christmas Eve, and their battle against the Mouse King.

A Cultural Festival

A cultural festival, celebrating all things Chinese is coming to MIA Park, as part of the Qatar-China Year of Culture. Events and activities include musical performances from the Zhejiang region, a Chinese market, a Chinese tea house and delicious food stalls and more.

Try a new brunch

On the last Friday of every month, Yabby and Fuego join forces. Feast on fresh seafood including oysters, lobster and sushi, plus teppanyaki, pies and roasts. Entertainment from Fuego’s Argentine duo and DJ Yas.

Live comedy

This month’s line up at The Laughter Factory includes the brilliant combination of straight-talking US comic David Fulton, the witty Alistair Barry (who has twice been nominated for Best Show at Edinburgh Fringe Festival) and observational Englishman Mick Ferry, who has appeared on the likes of Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow.

James Bond

Wednesday is James Bond night at Paper Moon, when they will screen some of the best Bond movies out on the cosy terrace for you to enjoy while indulging in authentic Italian cuisine. Past screenings have included Diamonds are Forever and Live and Let Die.

Dia Al Azzawi

Don’t miss Dia Al Azzawi’s incredible 50-year retrospective. Evocatively titled I am the cry, who will give voice to me? it features paintings, sculptures, drawings and prints, and incorporates limited edition works on show for the first time. The Iraqi artist is one of the pioneers of modern art, and his emotional work often deals with issues of war and peace in the region.

Chinese cinema

Settle in for some of the most groundbreaking cinema to come out of China. This film series from Doha Film Institute, which includes titles like Way of the Dragon, Police Story and Back to 1942, features major box-office stars like Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee alongside the work of acclaimed Chinese filmmakers.

Learn to cook the perfect pie

No holiday season is complete without pie. From pumpkin pies to mince pies, ’tis the season to eat pastry piled high with sweet, sugary fillings. And The Ritz-Carlton will teach you how to bake them at their Culinary Academy.

A thanksgiving feast

Go all out and celebrate Thanksgiving with a huge buffet spread of traditional turkey with all the trimmings, plus, of course, a seasonal dessert selection including sweet, creamy autumnal favourite – pumpkin pie.

Keep it local

Qatar’s farmers’ markets have re-opened at Al Khor, Al Wakrah and Al Mazrouah. They stock beautiful fresh fruit and veg from more than 70 local farms, and fresh fish, meat and dairy products like camel milk will also be on sale later this year.
