Be cheesy
Sundays at The Lounge mean glasses of grape and plates of international cheeses to pair them with. The backing track for this sophisticated evening is provided by Kéyali Mayaga + Band from 9.30pm-11.30pm.
Free entry. Sundays, 8pm-1.30am. The Lounge, Kempinski Residences & Suites Doha, West Bay (4405 3325).

Two affogatos are better than one
Enjoy buy-one-get-one-free offers on affogato – a coffee-based dessert made of an ice-cream scoop and espresso shot – all weekend at W Café.
QAR35. Sat-Thu 5pm-8pm. W Cafe, W Doha Hotel & Residences, West Bay (4453 5135).

Get urban
Mr Shef Codes, the Dubai-based, award-winning DJ known for his eclectic sets of hip-hop, R ‘n’ B and electronica tracks, is heading to Crystal for an exclusive urban night. Resident DJ Crazy D will be on the decks to warm things up, before Codes takes it Old School.
Reservations and guest list only. Tuesday January 26, from 10pm. Crystal Lounge & Club, W Doha Hotel & Residences (4453 5135).

Qatar Masters
Golfing legends like Ernie Els, Henrik Stenson and Robert Karlsson will descend on Doha at the end of the month to compete for a US$2.5million prize fund at the biggest golfing event of the year. But don’t be fooled into thinking this is an event reserved for serious golfing enthusiasts; in among the hushed tee-offs and tense putts are fun family driving range shows and family zones, plus a live performance from Scottish pop-rock band Simple Minds (more on p.69).
Tickets from QAR150 (general admission), free for children under 14. January 27-30. Doha Golf Club, West Bay, www.qatar-masters.com.
