Five locally based artists are showing new works in The Corridor with a focus on Islamic prints and patterns. Not only is the exhibition shining a light on Qatar’s talents, it also aims to raise awareness of the charity Room to Read.

Party at Noir

Doha’s newest club and lounge, Noir, is starting Christmas early with a festive celebration of merry music, seasonal dishes and special beverages. Dress up in your best green and red gladrags and the most suitable of you will be entered into a competition and be judged by Santa himself.

Spanish week at Oryx Rotana

Renowned chef Angel Zapata Martin is kicking off Oryx Rotana’s Spanish week in The Cellar and Choices. You’ll find his dishes at the week’s events such as The Cellar’s X’Press lunch and dinner or Choices brunch. A tapas degustation menu is also available on Thursday with a selection of five to ten plates from QR85.

Meet the wafflemeister

Love waffles? Then you’ll love this – UK-based chain Wafflemeister has launched a new branch in Lagoona Mall, selling authentic handmade Belgian waffles and natural gelato. The secret to their success is that each dish uses a protected Belgian family recipe. We’ll take ten please.

Highland swing

The sounds of the bagpipes are calling as W Doha’s Great Room plays host to The Scottish Party and contemporary band The Bag Rockers. Don’t expect all Highland tunes, as these guys jam out with pop-rock covers so everyone can get down to it on the dancefloor. A Ceilidh dance masterclass is also going on for those looking to learn some traditional moves.

Iconic solo shows

Get a glimpse into some of Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art’s most iconic works in a new exhibition Focus: Works from the Mathaf Collection. It combines a series of solo shows and highlights key regional artists including Qatar’s Faraj Daham, Morocco’s Farid Belhahia and Lebanon’s Raouda Choucair. Each gallery on the ground floor is dedicated to one artist, touching on specific themes in their practice.

Bonkers Balkan eve

Yu Nights at Dunes welcomes singer Nemanja Stevanivic and his band to lead up a specially themed Balkan party that’ll see you dancing the night away. For a breath of fresh air, take a break on the Dunes terrace (pictured) which offers stunning views of the hotel’s landscaped gardens.

Kids’ decorating sesh

Marking National Day
Get ready to see fireworks as Qatar celebrates National Day on Friday December 18. Horns will be tooting, the West Bay sky shall be blazing and everyone in Doha will find it hard not to feel a twang of patriotism as the whole country turns white and maroon. Get yourself down to Café Murano in Marsa Malaz Kempinski (4035 5011) where a delectable selection of cakes, cookies, macaroons and pastries are proudly iced in the Qatari flag. A whole host of other celebratory events in the city are also marking the occasion.

London beats
The deep sounds of electronic music combines with raw live music talent this weekend at Wahm where a visual performance by London Beats is taking place. Dancers Klaus de Macedo and Ameet Jugnauth are flying in from London’s exclusive Boujis nightclub, which helped them rise to fame and collaborate with the likes of Mark Ronson and will.i.am. Don’t miss out.
