Beach volleyball
April 17-18
Yes, everyone’s favourite sport is coming to Doha. Aspire Zone will be hosting the event at the Sand Pitch, collaborating with the Qatar Volleyball Association and it is open to the public to compete. The women’s tournament will take place on April 17, and the men’s on April 18 and open to everyone aged 17 or older, with registration free.

Cherry blossom festival
April 19-25
There is a very special week of festivities to celebrate the spectacular cherry blossom trees in Japan at this time of the year at the St. Regis hotel. This kicks off on the evening of April 19 with a special kimono fashion show at the Grand Ballroom. There is Japanese jazz at Jazz at Lincoln Center on April 20-21, as well as a master class on flower-arranging on April 22-23, daily classes from April 19-25 on the art of Japanese tea, Japanese Friday brunch at Vine on April 24, Japanese flavours at Astor Grill every day from April 19-25 and a cherry blossom picnic on the lawn on April 25, with a bento box full of Japanese treats.

Mark Ronson
April 23
Mark Ronson is one of the trendiest artists, producers and DJs on the planet, recently co-writing and producing Bruno Mars’ massive hit Uptown Funk. He has also collaborated with many of the world’s largest musical talents and could well bring the coolest DJ set to Doha this decade.

South African food
April 23
There’s a buffet on the beach this evening as part of a South African night, with specialities from the area served. We think this could be a good way to enjoy the weekend.

DFI screenings
April 23-25
Paying homage to the magic of Pixar’s favourite movies over the past 20 years, the Doha Film Institute will be showing five of the best, with Brave, Finding Nemo, Toy Story, Up and Wall-E all to be shown over the three days.
