Carrefour
This is most Doha resident’s go-to store as many major malls have a branch. Find fresh produce alongside all other groceries, homeware and outdoor items, as well as electronics.
Open Sat-Thu 8am-midnight; Fri 8am-11.30am, 12.30pm-midnight. Landmark Mall, Ghurrafa (4452 0760). Other locations: City Centre and Villaggio Mall.

LuLu Hypermarket
LuLu is Indian-owned and packed to the brim most of the time but you can find exotic products that are hard to get elsewhere. Plus, the prices are much more reasonable that most.
Open daily 8am-midnight. D Ring Road (4466 7780). Other location: Ghurrafa (4407 4000).

Spinney’s
There are only two branches of this regional supermarket chain here but it’s worth heading there for good quality fruit and veg, as well as other imported products from the US and UK you can’t find anywhere else.

Mega Mart
A favourite among the Brits, Mega Mart stocks plenty of imports and has good quality organic fruit and veg. It’s certainly pricier but there is an area at the back left of the shop that has discounted products that are close to their sell-by-date. You can find some real gems!
Open Sun-Thu 8am-11pm; Fri 8am-11.30am, 12.30pm-11pm. The Centre, Salwa Road (4444 0019).

Wholesale Market
For a more authentic and cost effective experience, head to this market for your pick of fruit and veg. You can find plenty of local fare – just ask the vendors and haggle for the best deal. In the same area there’s a fish market and butchery too.
Open daily 10am-10pm. Wholesale Market St, off Salwa Road.
